The purpose of the Commissioner Academy is to orient new commissioners to the work and history of the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission.  The academy also provides an overview of common components of an innocence investigation, including forensic DNA, confession analysis, and outdated forensic methods.  Through these lessons, you will be introduced to multiple fields of study that impact innocence investigations, their vocabulary, history, and defining debates.  This academy is meant to be responsive to commissioners’ needs.  If you would like information about a particular topic or issue, please let us know.  We welcome your feedback and engagement!
